So far 2020 has been a bit tumultuous. The outbreak of Coronavirus (COVID-19) has led to a lot of uncertainty. How long will the Coronavirus be around? How will this affect me? How will this affect the economy? Do I possibly have the virus without any symptoms and am I passing it to anyone else? We have heard that social distancing is the best response to slow the spread of the virus. We need to limit close contact with other people, work at home if possible and avoid contact with anyone showing symptoms. We also need to limit travel, both international and domestic, to slow the spread of the illness.
As we practice social distancing as a community, many businesses have had to close their doors for some time. We have been very lucky at Dee-sign to stay open due to the outside nature of our business. We are taking measures to stay as safe as we can. We have thoroughly cleaned and sanitized the inside of our store, as well as the work trucks we use on the landscape crew. The crew members also sanitize the trucks and keys at the end of each work day. The inside of our store is now closed to the public, but customers are still free to walk around outside and shop. We are currently waiting for spring annuals and tropicals to arrive, and we have a limited selection of perennials, shrubs and trees we are uncovering from overwintering. While we are waiting for the weather to warm up, now is a great time to shop our new ceramic pottery and statuary we received this year. Customers can also check out all the exciting remodeling we have been working on this winter; the property has changed a huge amount. We changed some of our storage buildings and have completely revamped our retail space. Plus, we have a gorgeous new water feature designed and installed by one of our very own crew members.
Amidst the quarantine, homeschooling, and working from home, a few minutes outside can be a life saver. Whether that means going for a walk or spending time in your garden Dee-sign is here to help. Once our annuals arrive, customers can pick out their flowers, have them loaded into their car and pay, without stepping foot in our shop. Even if you can’t find a single thing you want to buy (though I find that unlikely ;)), you can spend some time wandering around our property breathing some fresh air and soaking up some sunshine. Dee-sign is perfect when you need a nature break.
In these uncertain times, it is most important that you keep yourself and your family safe. Wash your hands often. Avoid touching your face. Just be smart and use your common sense. While we still face the uncertainty of how long COVID-19 will stick around, let’s focus on the positives we see around us every day and try not to get overwhelmed with the bad news. After all, when did panic ever help a situation? Stay clean, stay safe and stop into Dee-sign when you need a breath of fresh air.
