Since 1998 Fair Trade has been working with global farmers, fishermen and artists to connect them to a wider market to sell their goods at a fair price.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Fair Trade is a collection of businesses that sell a range of products from workers and artists in other countries. It is a movement to empower these individuals. Fair trade workers are paid a fair price for their goods, meaning they can support themselves through their income. All too often, workers in other countries are exploited for cheap labor and are stuck in a cycle of poverty. Fair Trade combats this cycle by ensuring people are paid what is fair for their quality, handmade products. Fair Trade certification means the working conditions are monitored to ensure these foreign workers are not working in unsafe areas.\u00a0 Rather than getting stuck working for a large corporation with poor working conditions, people now have the option to work on their own in a positive environment. Fair Trade is intended to focus on the people who produce the goods rather than just the product.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the Fair Trade Federation they also understand high quality products are important to maintain a business. Fair Trade certification means the goods produced are held to a high standard. Whether it is produce, decoration or a cute handbag, they meet a quality check point before they are shipped for sale.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
